Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2020 are scheduled for 3:00 PM at the Macomb Community College Field House - South Campus.

Graduation Honors

Students with high grade point averages (GPA) at the end of their seventh semester will receive special awards at the annual Honors Convocation Program on May 22, 2019 at the WCS Performing Arts Center.
  • Cum Laude (Academic Distinction), 3.000-3.499 GPA, awarded a golden tassel
  • Magna Cum Laude (Great Distinction), 3.500-3.899 GPA, awarded a golden tassel and stole
  • Summa Cum Laude (Highest Distinction), 3.900+ GPA, awarded a golden tassel, stole, and medallion

Senior Fee

For the Class of 2020, the fee for graduates is $50. This fee covers all aspects of graduation and related events: facility rental, diploma, diploma cover, cap, gown, tassel, and more.

Senior Exam Exemptions

Taken from WCS School Board Policy 5421A.G

Seniors wishing to be excused from Spring Final Exams must meet and maintain all criteria listed below, until the last day of the class in order to be eligible for excusal. Courses held at CPC, MMSTC, and WCSPA are exempt from this excusal. Therefore, seniors must take all finals at CPC, MMSTC, and WSCPA.

Criteria for Spring Final Exam excusal:
1. Student must maintain an A- 90% or better average in the class using the average of the two (2) marking period grades.
2. No "skips" or "unverified" absences.
3.No more than three (3) combined absences or tardies.
4. Citizenship of Satisfactory (S) or better in each marking period.

Seniors must also submit an application to each teacher for the final from which they want to be excused from no later than the Friday preceding the start of final exams. Teachers must notify students who submitted an application for excusal whether or not they are eligible no later than two (2) school days before semester exams begin. This approval may be revoked should a student no longer meet the above criteria on the day of the final exam.

Students who are excused from the Spring Final exam shall receive a "credit" (CR) on the semester exam for report card purposes. The semester grade will be based on the average of the two (2) marking period grades with each marking period accounting for fifty percent (50%).

How Many Credits Do I Need?

Credits possible over four years of high school: 24.0
Credits needed for graduation: 22.5

Credits needed for freshman status: 0.0
Credits needed for sophomore status: 4.5 at first semester, 7.5 at second semester
Credits needed for junior status: 10.5 first semester, 13.5 at second semester
Credits needed for senior status: 16.5 at semester one, 19.5 at second semester

  • English 9: 1.0 credit
  • English 10: 1.0 credit
  • English 11: 1.0 credit
  • English 12: 1.0 credit

Mathematics Requirements
  • Algebra 1: 1.0 credit
  • Geometry: 1.0 credit
  • Algebra 2: 1.0 credit
  • Additional Math or related credit: 1.0 credit

Social Studies Requirements
  • American History: 1.0 credit
  • World History: 1.0 credit
  • American Government: 0.5 credit
  • Economics: 0.5 credit

Science 
Requirements
  • Earth Science or Other Science: 1.0 credit
  • Biology: 1.0 credit
  • Chemistry, Physics, or Physical Science: 1.0 credit

  • Health: 0.5 credit
  • Physical Education: 0.5 credit
  • Visual, Performing, and Applied Arts: 1.0 credit
  • World Language: 2.0 credits
